Mane - Te Reo i te Wāhi Tangata
In Public Spaces

Te Reo i te Wāhi Tangata will launch Te Wiki o te Reo Māori with public celebrations, parades, markets, performances, and visible community activations that place te reo Māori front and centre in towns and cities across the motu.
Apply now for the Te Reo Towns Activation Fund – applications close 31 July
Communities across Aotearoa are invited to apply for funding of up to $3,000 to help launch Te Wiki o te Reo Māori 2026 with visible, public activations on Monday 14 September.
A limited funding pool is available to support events that bring people together and make te reo Māori more visible in streets, town centres, workplaces, schools and community spaces.
Whether you're planning a parade, hīkoi, community hākari, performance or another creative activation, this funding can help bring your idea to life.
Priority will be given to initiatives that demonstrate strong community participation, collaboration, and a commitment to making te reo Māori seen, heard and spoken in everyday life.
Applications close Friday 31 July 2026 and funding is limited. Apply early to avoid missing out.
