I grew up in kohanga and kura kaupapa then when I was 8 years old I was transferred to a pakeha school to learn English. Over the years I have slowly lost my reo where I once was fluent to now being a beginner/intermediate speaker. I can understand more than I can speak.
I would love to be fluent again and have committed myself to taking up te reo classes next year and to be involved with every movement there is towards reaching that 1 million target of te reo speakers.
