Kia ora as Tangata Tiriti, I have an obligation to acknowledge and support the tinorangatiratanga of Tangata Whenua. Learning and using Te Reo is one way I can do this. Kia kaha te reo Māori!

Kia ora, I am helping out with Matariki celebrations at my workplace. We are holding a community Matariki Hākari. I am creating some bunting to decorate our wharenui. I challenged myself to make it from all my current fabric scraps from other projects, and some upcycled fabric from pillow cases.

Using Māori greetings to start our meetings at work. Promoting Māori Language week on our social media platforms. Putting up Te Wiki o te Reo Māori posters at work.

Kia ora We celebrated our Māori Language Moment by practising vowel sounds and learning a Karakia mō te kai to use when we are serving kai in our wharekai at Belfast Community Centre in Ōtautahi. We have decided that we will continue this at each of our staff meetings, and then progress to learning a waiata together. Ka mau te wehi! Thanks so much to the organisers of this awesome event! :)
