We listened to Lorde's new EP Te Ao Mārama, and sang along to it so we could practice our pronunciation! Took a couple of practices to get there - all part of the journey though!

Whāia te iti kahurangi ki te tūohu koe me he maunga teitei Seek the treasure you value most dearly: if you bow your head, let it be to a lofty mountain My tutorial class found a whakataukī that they discussed the meaning of together, and each held up a word to say it together. Unfortunately the whole whakataukī isn't visible because of some technical difficulties! But the whakawhanaungatanga and the kaha o te reo was there!

Ka whakarongo maua, ka pānui maua, ka waiata maua. My friend and I listened to Lorde's Te Ao Mārama and sang along to it so we could practice our pronunciation. Couple of stumbles here and there, but we are loving the learning process!

It's important for me to take part in te wā tuku reo māori, as te reo gives me a point of connection to my tupuna. I am learning so that I can pass on the same opportunities to my mokopuna to connect with me when I am gone. I want to contribute to normalising te reo so everyone can be comfortable to kōrero māori, and we can be a truly bilingual and bicultural nation.
