Today I began a kupu hou series on Pukamata (Facebook) of Māori words associated with Real Estate. Being a Māori real estate agent is a humbling experience where I get to empower people with manākitanga and finesse and support them towards success with property. With only a few Māori currently in the industry, it's empowering for me to represent on behalf of our Māori people, create opportunities in the field for Māori, and show that we can perform to a high level in such industries. Nga mihi, Tama Emery

My daughter and I had a brief korero and then sang a waiata together.

I te kura e whakahere hui ana, ka tūhono atu ki te Zui mō te rōpū Haemata, ka whakarongo ki ngā waiata Māori i te ahiahi 😊

Our Conductive Education class leant the kupu for whurutu (fruits) and hua whenua (vegetables).

Panui Maori-Te Kawenata Hou

Proud moment for me to do my own pepeha and be able to also say it word for word. My goal is to work on my pronunciation and absorb as much Te Reo as I can into my everyday life. If anyone hears me say something not quite right please let me know so I can correct it as I have a massive fear of saying a word wrong and the meaning gets changed. Anyone enough from me for now. Enjoying being part of such a nurturing team! Kia kaha - Keila xx

This is a photo of our team (13 of them +2 kids) who joined a session learning some Te Reo led by our CEO Sam who has been taking Te Reo courses.

Watched an example of taha tinana by our tuakana Akomanga tekau, as part of their Kori tinana dance project. Then NIKE Just did it! Ka mau te wehi!

Karawhiua was the guiding phrase for Te Maunga as they launched into Te Wiki o te Reo Māori 2021! A week filled with waiata, kaupapa kori, kapa haka, Whakataetae Reo Māori Wero, and kīwaha! For our moment at 12pm we came together to sing a new waiata with new vocabulary we learnt for our Māori Language Moment. Tau Ke!

The staff and student leaders at Pakuranga Colllege collaborated from afar to create a video that encouraged our fabulous students while on lockdown, while also celebrating te reo Māori: https://drive. google. com/file/d/16Be9IXNOODKSKp5W47fdkIUt4nXOpK5V/view?usp=sharing

Sang along to Anika Moa's version of Purea Nei, with my 2 and 5 year old kids, it's our favourite waiata. Stuck at home in lockdown but we had a great lunchtime today :)

I have been trying to do my pepeha for like 3 years since joining my job at Te Hononga. With the help of my daughter and google I have done it. I did my Pepeha at my work Te Reo Zoom meeting today and they said it was awesome. I am glad for this opportunity to finally do it.

Teachers and student leaders at Pakuranga College collaborated from afar to send encouraging messages to our fabulous students, embracing te reo - regardless of wherever we are on the journey. https://drive. google. com/file/d/16Be9IXNOODKSKp5W47fdkIUt4nXOpK5V/view?usp=sharing

#maorilanguageweek I found this website where you can create a Pepeha - "it's a way of introducing yourself in Māori. It tells people who you are by sharing your connections with the people and places that are important to you. " I thought that's very cool, you can print it out and display it like an artwork. #newzealand #maorilanguage #pepeha #lietuva https://pepeha. nz/

Staff members decorated the staff room. Others bought in items of interest eg korowai cloak, greenstone patu, books, bone carvings. At 12 noon, one of our staff talked about the history of Te reo, another spoke in Te reo explaining the importance of pepeha and another said the karakia before we ate our Kai. We asked everyone to do their pepeha which was really interesting. The picture is of our steamed hangi and rewana bread.

Here's a little waiata we love singing to our tamariki. Not only does it help them to identify different colours but it also teaches them what they are in te reo.

I am in a meeting at 12:00 so a group of us will be sharing our mihi

We were very lucky to have Mrs B in our class today teaching us about Koru art. The kids loved it. Lots of design and painting.

I took a test to see how many Maori words I knew and this is how I scored. Now I can continue my journey and improve my vocabulary.

At 12pm I was involved in a professional supervision session. My supervisee and I agreed we would say The Lord’s Prayer in te reo. We ended up playing a sung version from YouTube

Haere mai everything is kapai … Daphne Walker

Sharing for my mum-in-law: she organised a "moment" at their Chch retirement village, only a few turned up but they played an old waiata CD, shared stories and some kupu. They talked about meeting regularly and encouraging others from the community to join in :)

Greeted clients in te reo Māori

Today our team joined together from Tamaki Makaurau, Whanganui-a-tara and Ōtautahi in waiata. We started with Whakataka Te Hau, and ended with Kia Tau. In between we sang E Minaka Ana and Whakarongo. Our waiata we learnt together today was Ko Te Pu. We had some laughs along the way along with some technical issues but the most important of all - it was time well spent learning, sharing and celebrating Te reo Māori.

He paku mihi ki te Ao . . .

After the session I asked them questions “he aha te kupu English mo ……?” Pungawerewere, kuri, kiore, kaukau, and then they had to show that pose. It was lots of fun and lots of kupu hou.
