Kia Ora reomaori So myself and my partner are learning te reo maori through card games, books, waiata etc. each Morning or Afternoon revision for myself and I'm helping my Partner to learn te reo maori

I like the reo

I was at home with my toddler and his wee friend and as they were playing birthday parties together we made that our te reo language focus. At 12pm we set up a wooden birthday cake with candles and sung "Ra whānau ki a koe" together.

Kia ora e te whanau Yesterday we had the pleasure in having Murihiku (Invercargill's) finest ukulele roopu Manahou come to our kmart store to play and sing for our team members and customers. Ka mau te wehi

We played upoko hiku ranei

We played one of our favourite kemu, involving lots of counting from the tamariki – starting with tahi!

I used Māori korero by saying Kia ora to my friends

I said kiaora for every roll and as greetings

I played upoko and hiku

At The Anglican Trust for Women and Children (Social service, education and therapy teams) celebrated Te Wiki o te Reo Maori was celebrated with a Waiata staff challenge. Here is our awesome Mōkai Patea Moment, singing a waiata created to acknowledge many of the tupuna in te Rohe Pōtae o Mōkai Pātea.

I am learning how to say Maori greetings in the morning when we hello on the roll we say a greeting in Maori and we try to say different ones. When we need to go somewhere we say Kei the haere ahua ki te. . . if it's bathroom then at the end we say wharepaku

Ngā kaimahi o Competenz learning about finding peace through Māori meditation wānanga online

This year I have been researching and writing some kīwaha for my masters in Māori Medium Education. Every day this week I have been doing a Facebook Live explaining one kīwaha or whakataukī each day in te reo Māori and then in English 😊

I am saying “kei te haere ahau ki te wharepaku” when I need to go bathroom I am saying “kei te haere ahau ki te inu” when I want to go to the library I say “kei te haere ahau ki te Wharepukapuka” when I need to go to the nurse I say “kei te haere ahau ki te whare turoro

I offered to do the karakia timatanga and whakakapi for my midday meeting and used as many kupu māori as i know in the meeting

I am learning how to say Maori greetings in the morning and to use the Maori way of saying if I want to go somewhere, eg, Kei te haere ahau ki te wharepaku. We also say our school Karakia every morning

I always greet my teachers in the morning with kia ora or kia pai te rā and whenever I need to get a drink I say “Kei te haere ahau ke te inu”. And every morning at school we say a karakia.

We used Te reo Maori to give greetings to each other in the mornings and afternoon. We also used Kei Te haere ahau ki te wharipaku or Kei te haere ahau ki te inu to explain if we have to go to the bathroom or have a drink. Every morning after the role, we say our karakia then we say our school phakatoki.

I will use the phrase "Kei te harae ahau ki te wharepaku" I will use a new saying when answering the roll

We used more Te Reo in class such as asking to go to the bathroom, Kei te haere ahau ki te wharepaku. And we used different greetings like Kia pai te rā and ata marie.

For Te Wiki o Te Reo Maori my class and I greeted each other and the teachers in different Maori greetings every day, using some like Kia Ora, Kia pai te ra, and Nga mihi. We also have to ask to go to the bathroom (wharepaku) and to get a drink of water (inu) in Maori. We also did a karakia every morning.

He Toi Ahurewa nā te Mana Whenua o Te Ātiawa ki Te Ūpoko o Te Ika

I've always loved 'Poi E' by Ngoi Pēwhairangi and Dalvanius Prime, performed by Patea Māori Club, but never knew any kupu beyond 'taku poi e'. I decided to start learning the kupu so at some point instead of humming along, I'll be able to sing along. I listed to the waiata with a copy of the kupu in front of me and tried to follow along. Now I'll have to upskill my 5 year old, so instead of him saying his usual 'Don't sing Mum! ' (I'm not a born singer), he'll be able to tell me 'Kaua e waiata! '

A wero today to write down all the kupu we can think of. We already remembered more that we didn't get down. We have had so much fun and love seeing how many kupu we actually know.

Our mahi Every year, the Year 11 Drama students from Kerikeri High School create a theatre piece for the local Kerikeri Kindergarten. This is an incredible experience for the student actors, as they have to craft and create a piece of theatre for a specific audience. The actors work with the Year 12 Entertainment and Event Technology students. In 2023, the Kindergarten asked for the piece to be shaped around Māori legends and include te reo. The Year 11 students submit this work for their L1 pilot assessment. The Year 12 students gain credits for the work they do backstage. We were fortunate to have the assistance of Matūa Jordan Westerlund as advisor for Te Reo and Mātauranga Māori. https://purakaukkhs. weebly. com/
