Te Wiki o te Reo Māori 2022 | Māori Language Week 2022

He tau whakahirahira te tau 2022. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Māori Language Petition, an event that led to many of the kaupapa we have today, including Te Wiki o te Reo Māori.

Use as much Te Reo as possible with my students and my own children at home

I am a beginner and with my daughters and mokos help I am learning te reo

I have joined a Te Reo group at Brighton library in Christchurch

I am learning my Mihi and some karakia with my class in school. We are also learning the Lord’s Prayer in Te Reo Māori. I have been researching my Whakapapa.

This is Kiwarei. He is 5 years old and he is beginning his reo journey with our whānau. Waiata plays such an important role in our journey and I am proud that he is building his confidence to share it with others.

Because today, is an new beginning and talking about the celebrations of our te reo maori language, being used anywhere all over aotearoa and greeting and keep learning te reo everyday and manaakitanga and whanaungatangaand tautoko ki to reo maori ki tenei wiki o te reo maori and everyone giving it an try and learning each kupu and korero reo maori to everyone

I continue to learn the Reo māori everyday! I created a kahoot with staff, held a waiata practice to start implementing basic tīkanga at mahi and created a staff bingo with a prize. Also using more Reo at home! Writing post it notes with rerenga kupu.

This week we listen to Māori music, pepeha of both whakapapa for our children, speak te reo, karakia or learn new karakia and te reo Maori classroom activities! !

At mahi a weeks worth of activities have been planned by our maori network I am apart of, started today off with a opening followed by a kapa haka performance from a local kura. There will be waiata workshops, learning how to make a kete, quiz based on Te Ao maori and the week will be finished of with a hangi. Kia kaha te reo maori

This photo is of 8 schools and their whanau from Te Riu o Ngāti Rēhia who gathered on the 8th Sep 2022 for the begining on an anual Whakawhanaungatanga Kapahaka Ahurei. Every year for Te wiki o te reo, I apply all Maori kupu in my knowledge to EVERYTHING! So I label everything in Maori, I speak reo Maori to my tamariki, play Maori waiata all day, everyday and I also learn and try to teach my babies a new karakia, whakatauki and a kupu of the day as well everyday during te wiki o te reo. . . I love love love te wiki o te reo! ! ! I am able to learn myself and than implement into my babies 🥰

Kua eke au ki te wero ki te ako kia whitu kupu hou ia rā. Kei te ako hoki au I ngā waiata hou me te hanga kiwaha.

Moved back home to Aotearoa to share and learn Te reo Māori for me and my babies so our language can live on! ! !
