Te Wiki o te Reo Māori 2022 | Māori Language Week 2022

He tau whakahirahira te tau 2022. This year marked the 50th anniversary of the Māori Language Petition, an event that led to many of the kaupapa we have today, including Te Wiki o te Reo Māori.

I began my level 1 Te Reo course 3 weeks ago, and added the Kōrerorero app to my phone, continue to read children’s books in Te Reo Māori for myself and my kids. I practise what Te Reo I know as much as possible, and strive to become a better Ti Tiriti partner as Tau Iwi, modelling that to my tamariki and whānau in general.

I put up one kupu hou a day for my flat mates to learn as I am the only Maori in our household. They have enjoyed it and we’ve also translated their names into Maori. Feeling proud to be Maori

This is me at a exhibition My fitclub team all went dressed up and wore our flags proud that night as a korowai that we prepared with feathers and wore our mokos with so much pride and joy. We were life of the party.

For the first time in my life I have actively committed to participating in Māori language week. I have always felt like I never did enough and this year I intend to embrace me. So we had kapa haka at work Monday I got in the fold. We have waiata learning today at work and I am going im there for it. Moving forward I have joined the wananga o Aotearoa to start a te reo Māori course im making this change for me

I taught numbers coloyrs and greetings at school yesterday. I will continue sharing and teaching during the week.
