Our Senior Syndicate from Tikipunga Primary School had daily rotations with mahi toi, kemu and as a Syndicate we learnt the history of this beautiful waiata from the late Ngoingoi Pewhairangi. -

As a new student to te Reo Māori (week 2 of 10) I attended a team meeting and shared the karakia "Whakataka te hau" with the team, ending with the English translation - I think it was quite successful and broke the ice for me as a new speaker :) -
